Physical Education

Mr. Kevin Yamamoto , E-mail:

Extension 336

Welcome everyone to Physical Education class.  This will be my first year at Sts. Felicitas and Perpetua School.

In my spare time I enjoy coaching basketball for Mayfield Senior School, playing basketball, cycling, snowboarding, cooking and listening to music.

I am very excited to start a new year at Sts Felicitas and Perpetua as a P.E. and Computer teacher.   Students will be expected to adhere to the uniform policies of the school as well as participate to the fullest of their abilities.   Students will be given the opportunity to learn about and develop skills in a multitude of physical activities and sports.  I hope that this year will be fun and successful for all my students.

Kindergarten

Welcome parents and students!  My name is Kevin Yamamoto and I will be your Physical Education teacher here at Sts. Felicitas & Perpetua Catholic School.

The curriculum of Physical Education in the lower grades, K through 3rd, will be geared towards improving basic motor skills, learning cooperation, sportsmanship, manipulative skills, hand-eye coordination, and modified games while having fun.  Some of the activities that will be covered will include:

Manipulative skills

Rhythm and movement

Parachute

Throwing and catching

Jump rope

Various games and modified sports

Through these different skills, the students will have a good idea of what Physical Education is and will progress in ability through the years.  Their grade will be based on participation, tests, materials, behavior, effort and uniform.  If a student forgets to wear his/her uniform for six classes during a trimester, his/her grade will be lowered one letter grade.  If the student misbehaves, he/she will be given two warnings and then a timeout.  If an additional timeout is given, the student will not be able to participate in physical education for the remainder of the class.  Non-participation is not acceptable.  If the student receives three non-participation records during a trimester, their grade will be lowered one letter grade.  Appropriate behavior is essential for physical education.

If your child is unable to participate due to a medical reason, it is imperative that I receive a note from the parent/guardian or doctor stating why the child cannot participate or what his/her physical restrictions are, as well as a follow-up note when he/she is allowed to return to P.E.  If you are aware that your child is out-of-uniform, please send a note explaining why because this will determine whether their grade is or is not affected.

I am looking forward to a great year!

Kindergarten PE Schedule:       Tuesdays and Thursdays            10:30 – 11:00 AM
