My Dearest First Graders,

Summer Reading Assignment

It is important to keep up your reading logs during the summer.  You should read something every day.  Bring your reading logs with you on the first day of school.

Free summer reading programs, with incentives and book finding tips, are available at most public libraries.  Check your local public library for more information.  Crowell Public Library in San Marino has a program that runs from June 9th through August 2nd.  For more information please check their website at http://crowellpubliclibrary.org/youth/srp.htm.

***Tip:  Make flash cards at home and keep adding to the deck as new words are added.  Students should be able to read and spell each word.

Flash cards are also great for Math Facts.  Add to the deck with each weekly lesson and use as a review tool.
